Like most, I put off dental appointments, but look forward to getting the needed work completed. They are compassionate, understanding and reassuring that even though I have been neglectful they remedy the situation and restore my smile to where it should be.

My daughter and I had an amazing experience with Kristen’s first visit of having cavities fixed. She was so nervous, but once going she felt more at ease. I am so happy with results that we most definitely will be returning. Thank you all.

The attention to detail is wonderful. I like the new scheduling process. I like that the procedures are current with what is new in the field and the friendliness of the staff. The cost is worth the work done.

My name is Elise Wakeland, from Arundel, and a junior at Union College. I began going to Great East Dental two years ago when my mother changed us over assuring me, “IT IS WORTH THE DRIVE!” As a busy working college student I was hesitant and wondered how great a visit to the dentist could actually be. When I walked into the lobby, I found a jar of cookies and coffee awaiting me and my mindset began to shift. The staff at Great East Dental is always friendly. I know that when I go into the dentist my initial thought is they are going to yell at me for my failure to floss, but my hygienist gently reminds me of the importance of that magical string. With the most up-to-date technology, such as a pressurized salt rinse, cleanings at Great East Dental are fast and painless. The first time that I went there I had to conceal my shock following my cleaning when asked if I wanted a warm towel for my face. One of my favorite parts of the dentistry there, is the personal approach they take in treating their patients. Their care for their patients is obvious as they ask how school, sports and work are treating me, always catching up on my life. Furthermore, they make efforts to fit me in for appointments whenever I am on breaks from school. In the end, and as much as I hate to say it, my mother was right… Great East is 100% worth the drive!

I always hated having my picture taken and when I did I would often hear “Jeremy, you are not smiling!” That is because I hated the way my teeth looked, they were too small and were not proportionate to one another.

At my last dental visit I spoke with Dr. Frederick Rosenberg at Great East Dental Associates and he assured me that he could make my smile something to be proud of. I was a bit leary at first having gone almost thirty years with my smile the way it was. Dr. Rosenberg explained to me that I had a lot of hidden teeth under my gums and that with the use of a laser in the office he could comfortably remove the excess gum tissue. He said that he could make my small teeth the size that they were meant to be.

At my laser appointment, a small amount of novocaine was injected which I did not even feel. Then Dr. Rosenberg went to work and when he was done, I couldn’t believe how great my teeth looked. It was such a simple procedure! I now have more confidence and I am able to smile in pictures. I wish I had the laser appointment years ago!

As a professional registered nurse for over twenty years, the prospect of a medical exam or procedure did not even approximate the anxiety I felt over the prospect of a dental exam or procedure. No dental prophylaxis treatment ever proved to be truly preventive. No procedure was ever pain free. No dentist or hygienist, no matter how seemingly professional or supportive ever provided the full spectrum dental care that ranks with a total patient care philosophy that I value. Until now… (and I have live in the greater Boston area and Portland, Maine’s largest city.

It has taken me all of my adult life to find a practice, Great East Dental Associates of Springvale, Maine who skillfully practices all of the aforementioned in conjunction with the most recent technological advances dentistry has to offer!

Can you imagine having a root canal or tooth filled that DOES NOT HURT! COMPLETELY PAIN FREE! The novocaine doesn’t hurt; the procedure doesn’t hurt. My dentist frequently asks if I am feeling all right. I was so used to feeling discomfort and anxiety with a dental exam, my pulse and blood pressure raced both in anticipation of the procedure and during it. I’ve had to relearn that going to the dentist does not have to be a terrible experience. The hygienists associated with Great East Dental also have proficiency in particular areas of dental medicine. The receptionists are accommodating and considerate.

I have waited all my adult life to receive the dental care I am currently being provided. That’s something to smile about!

Do you remember the last time you were at your dentist office for a cleaning? Your hygienist placed a bib over your shirt, updated your medical history and described to you that she would measuring your gums to check the health of them. You hear the numbers being called out, “7, 4, 6…5, 3, 6…4, 2, 4…” and you think what is she doing? Then she sits you up and tells you that you have gum disease and need “quadrant scaling (and most impressive) root planning”.

Periodontal disease is silent, there is no pain involved until the disease has progressed into the later stages of infection. If left untreated it will result in tooth loss and has been linked to systemic diseases such as: cardiovascular disease, fluctuating blood glucose levels in people who have diabetes, stroke, lung infections and even low birth weight pre-term babies in pregnant women who are afflicted.

At Great East Dental our hygienists explain everything in full detail as the appointment progresses. We explain why and how you have gotten your gum infection, the progression of the disease and more pleasant ways to stabilize your current condition as periodontal disease is not curable. Our periodontal therapy is a series of appointments with the use of microsonics, localized antibiotics, enzyme suppression and the diode laser. This process can actually make your deep measurements smaller! We know that statistically a very high percentage of the American population is unaware that they have this silent bacterial infection in their mouth.

If you should see signs of periodontal disease such as: red, swollen and bleeding gums when brushing or flossing, teeth shifting or separating or a bad taste or strong odor coming from your mouth, then it is time to see your dental health professional. They say your mouth is the window to your body, so why not come in and have our hygienists examine and confirm that you not worry about the current condition of your gums.
